Natural Resources Conservation (LDP-3)
Noonu Atoll is committed to conserving its natural resources, including coral reefs, beaches, and freshwater. The council plans to create a Geographic Information System (GIS) for informed planning and sustainable land-use. Local communities will be empowered to participate in reimagining land use, strengthening conservation, and ensuring food security. A new resource and land-use framework prioritizing sustainability will be deployed, and efforts will be made to preserve the entire ecosystem, including islands, coral reefs, and mangrove forests. The council will introduce Environment and Heritage Conservation Tourism, allowing responsible exploration of the atoll. Innovative solutions like reef construction services will be employed to restore and protect coral reefs. The goal is to ensure the long-term health and sustainability of Noonu Atoll for both the environment and the residents.
