Cooperative Formation & Legal Support
Atoll Harvest program aims to explore the possibility of establishing community-led cooperatives across farming, aquaculture, and livestock sectors. This phase is crucial for fostering collective ownership, enhancing resource management, and ensuring food self-sufficiency within the atoll. Cooperatives provide a structured framework for community members to work together, share resources, and make collective decisions that benefit all members. By forming cooperatives, the project aims to empower local communities, strengthen social cohesion, improve economic resilience, and promote climate resilient development. This activity involves providing training on cooperative models, guiding communities through the formation and legal registration of cooperatives, and assisting in the creation of governance structures. Each step is designed to ensure that cooperatives are well-organized, legally compliant, and capable of managing their operations effectively. By the end of this phase, the project aims to have established several functional cooperatives that can drive sustainable livelihoods within Noonu Atoll.
