Urgent Request for Decentralization of Digital Infrastructure Control to Enhance Local Governance

To address the critical issue of digital infrastructure controls by central authorities, we are compelled to issue this urgent call to action. The current centralized control over digital resources severely limits the ability of local governance to adapt technology to meet specific community needs, stifling innovation and responsiveness. Local councils require the autonomy to customize systems like ERPs, CRMs, and GIS, ensuring they are tailored to local contexts, enhancing resource management, and improving citizen services. Moreover, technologies must be culturally and linguistically relevant, particularly with AI models that should resonate with local languages and cultures. Decentralization would not only spur innovation in administrative processes, public engagement, and digital financial solutions but also empower citizens through better platforms for interaction, transparency, and accountability. We propose that the central government grant local control over digital infrastructure while maintaining national standards, foster global partnerships for funding and expertise, and encourage local tech development through incentives. This approach would lead to enhanced governance, stimulate economic growth by creating tech-related job opportunities, and empower communities with improved access to services and information. We call on the central government to reevaluate the current model, actively engage with local councils, and implement policies that decentralize control, making our governance model more inclusive, innovative, and responsive to the unique needs of our diverse regions. Immediate action is necessary for the future of our governance and our nation.
