Noonu Atoll vehicle driving licence practical exam track project has been successfully completed, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to strengthen public service infrastructure and promote road safety awareness within the community. Following an earlier pause to address backfilling and technical challenges, the project has now reached full operational readiness through diligent oversight and responsible resource management.

The project, initially awarded to Sea Shine Investment in 2023 with a total contract value of MVR 966,283.61, required a strategic variation of MVR 119,658.60 to effectively resolve implementation issues. The final cost stands at MVR 1,085,942.21. All critical phases have been finalised to the highest standards, including base sand casting, precise ground levelling, surfacing, and the complete layout of the 20,800 square foot track. Rigorous inspections have been conducted throughout, ensuring full compliance, transparency, and quality assurance.

This initiative directly aligns with our Resilient Atoll Strategy and Local Development Plan 5 (LDP-5): Resilient Communities, which prioritises enhanced safety measures, disaster preparedness, and expanded public services to improve island life and foster social cohesion. By providing a dedicated facility for practical driving examinations, the track contributes to road safety education and community well-being, consolidating island-level needs into atoll-wide resilience.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sea Shine Investment for their unwavering professionalism, technical expertise, and steadfast commitment to delivering exceptional results. Their partnership has been instrumental in bringing this essential facility to fruition. We also sincerely thank the Manadhoo Island Council for their invaluable collaboration and for allocating the land required to realise this initiative.

The track is currently undergoing final review and awaits formal approval from the relevant government authorities for official operational use. Upon receiving clearance, the facility will be open to the public for conducting vehicle driving license practical examinations and, where authorized, community-based training programmes.

In alignment with our vision for sustainable and inclusive community development, plans remain in place to develop an adjacent community park as a complementary extension of this project.
