The Noonu Atoll Council is seeking a qualified and dedicated Legal Officer to join our team. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with legal regulations, providing legal advice, and supporting various departments with legal matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance and Guidance: Ensure all tasks required by the Atoll or Island Council under Law Number 7/2010 (Decentralization Act) are delivered under the guidance of the Council and the Secretary General.

  • Implementation: Fully cooperate in implementing council decisions and carry out all administrative tasks required to implement such decisions under the guidance of the Secretary General or supervisor.

  • Accountability: Be fully accountable to the council and the Secretary General in all matters related to the council office’s work and the implementation of council decisions.

  • Advocacy: Advocate with relevant parties to secure the rights granted to atoll councils by the Decentralization Act.

  • Legal Advice: Provide legal advice to the atoll council and island councils as needed.

  • Legal Procedures: Complete all necessary legal procedures for cases submitted to the office and represent the council in court.

  • Regulations Development: Develop the council’s operational regulations and procedural rules for conducting council meetings.

  • Review and Guidance: Review issues submitted by island councils and provide necessary legal advice and guidance.

  • Drafting: Prepare drafts of regulations, policies, and agreements required by the atoll council and as requested by island councils.

  • Amendments: Review and amend the atoll council’s operational regulations and policies as needed.

  • Documentation: Write and maintain records of letters, messages, and other documents required by the section/unit.

  • Event Participation: Carry out necessary tasks related to various events, workshops, etc., organized by the office.

  • Special Tasks: Participate in special tasks undertaken by the institution and perform other duties assigned within the official work of the institution.

Qualifications:

  • CS9-5: At least 2 years in grade CS9-4 of the Legal Officers’ job structure with a performance appraisal score of 85% or above for 2 consecutive years.

  • CS9-4: At least 2 years in grade CS9-3 of the Legal Officers’ job structure with a performance appraisal score of 85% or above for 2 consecutive years.

  • CS9-3: At least 2 years in grade CS9-2 of the Legal Officers’ job structure with a performance appraisal score of 85% or above for 2 consecutive years.

  • CS9-2: A Level 7 or Level 8 qualification from the Maldives National Qualifications Framework in the field of Law or Islamic Law and Shariah.

  • CS9-2 10,020.00

  • Service allowance: MVR 5,640

  • Special Duty Allowance: Up to 35% of salary

  • Overtime pay and pension contribution

Selection Process:

Interviews will be held between 30th October 2024 and 7th November 2024. Selection will be based on qualifications, experience, assessment, interview, and presentation performances.
