Noonu Atoll vehicle driving license practical exam track project has resumed after an earlier pause due to backfilling issues. In accordance with the legal framework, the responsibility for funding and developing such essential public services lies with the relevant ministry. Recognizing the importance of this project to our community and in the absence of dedicated ministry funding, we have utilized savings from our council’s block grant to ensure progress continues smoothly and efficiently.

The project, initially awarded to Sea Shine Investment in 2023 with a total contract value of MVR 966,283.61, required a strategic pause to address technical and backfilling challenges that arose during implementation. To responsibly resolve these, we allocated an additional MVR 119,658.60 as a variation to the contract. As a result of these efforts, significant milestones have now been completed, including base sand casting, ground leveling, and the overall site layout for the 20,800 square foot track. We have conducted thorough inspections and remain fully engaged in overseeing the project to maintain transparency and quality. Construction is scheduled for completion within two months.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Manadhoo Island Council for their collaboration and for allocating the land necessary to make this project possible. We also acknowledge and thank the contractor, Sea Shine Investment, for their ongoing dedication and professionalism in carrying out the work to a high standard. Their commitment and partnership have been pivotal in advancing this initiative for the benefit of our community.

In line with our vision for resilient and inclusive community infrastructure, plans are also underway to develop an adjacent community park as a future extension of this project. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing public facilities and supporting the well-being of all residents. The advancement of the driving license exam track stands as a testament to our council’s proactive approach and dedication to service enhancement.
